The San Marcos Community Foundation regularly hears from many grant recipients expressing thanks and appreciation for the work they are able to accomplish with the funds and the residents of San Marcos who will benefit from the grants. Below are comments from recent grant recipients.

North County Community Services

"Without the continuing generosity of organizations like the San Marcos Community Foundation, and conscientious stewards of philanthropic funds, many in the communities we serve would face an even tougher struggle with hunger."

Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos

"We greatly appreciate your support of the Club and its efforts to provide children with a safe and stimulating environment. It is because of the support of individuals and businesses like you that the Club can be "The Positive Place for Kids."

Interfaith Community Services

"Clearly Clean Janitorial and Maintenance is part of Interfaith's ongoing effort to include clients in their own rehabilitation by continuing the entrepreneurial spirit of social enterprise. From food trucks to thrift stores, cook-chef training to hydroponic gardening, we are always on the lookout for ways to employ our clients in meaningful work so they can give back to the community that has welcomed them so warmly.

Thank you for believing in our mission, and helping in such a tangible way. We are looking forward to reporting to you the life-changing effects this grant will have. From the bottom of our hearts, and on behalf of our clients, thank you!"

The Elizabeth Hospice

"On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, and all those we serve, I offer our sincere appreciation to the San Marcos Community Foundation for your recent contribution of $4,000 to the Elizabeth Hospice. Your generosity makes a signficant difference to both patients and caregivers alike. With this gift, you are showing kindness to our neighbors, young and old, who are facing some of life's toughest challenges."

San Marcos High School Music Boosters

"Thank you for your continuing support of the music program at San Marcos High School with your recent grant award for transportation. This fall the marching band will have over 225 students participating in Knight Regiment, and is now the largest high school marching band in San Diego County. Your grant award will help tremendously with our transportation costs to the fall marching band competitions and music festivals in the spring."

Words Alive

"On behalf of our staff, board of directors and most particularly the 1,400 people we serve, I want to thank you and the San Marcos Community Foundation for its support of Words Alive. The grant award of $1,500 will help us sustain our Adolescent Book Group (ABG) program site in San Marcos. ABG works to bridge the gap in interest, access, and achievement in reading for at-risk youth in 9 Juvenile Court and Community Schools."

Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego, Inc.

"All of us at Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego, Inc. wish to extend a heartfelt thank you for your recent $1,500 grant donation to help purchase, prepare and deliver healthy meals to seniors living in San Marcos. Since 1960, Meals-on-Wheels has been delivering meals to homebound seniors and with your generosity we can continue our work to maintain the well-being, independence and digniity of San Diego County seniors.

Alzheimer's Association San Diego/Imperial Chapter

"Alzheimer's disease is on the rise, now recognized as the 3rd leading cause of death in San Diego County. There are currently more than 60,000 people in our community with Alzheimer's disease, impacting the lives of over 150,000 familiy members and caregivers. Gifts such as yours enable the Alzheimer's Association to provide free programs and services to those affected that include familiy education about the disease, supportive services such as our 24-Hour Helpline, more than 30 support groups, and the ability to collaborate nationally to fund research in hope of one day achieving our vision: a world without Alzheimer's."
