On Tuesday, Feb. 18,  2020, San Marcos Mayor Rebecca Jones delivered her second State of the City Address at California State University San Marcos, 333 S. Twin Oaks Valley Road, San Marcos, in the University Student Union Ballroom as part of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce Business Recognition Luncheon.

The address focused on the San Marcos Spirit of Service, the secret ingredient that makes our City the perfect place to get a top quality education, buy a home, raise a family and retire comfortably.

Mayor Jones also issued a civic call to action and shared concrete steps everyone can take to embody the San Marcos Spirit of Service to make our City a better place. This is as simple as picking up trash or joining the new San Marcos Citizens Academy – a free, six-week class to help residents learn about their city government.

The State of the City Address was live-streamed on the City's website. It will also be rebroadcast on San Marcos TV beginning in mid-March or on demand at

Mayor Jones will also present the address at the free State of Your Community Event and Resource Fair on March 31, 2020, at the San Marcos Community Center located at 3 Civic Center Drive. Learn more here.
