Keeping San Marcos clean, safe and well-maintained

The City of San Marcos has made great strides investing in the city’s quality of life, and a strong foundation has been set for themeasure q sign community’s next chapter.

In November 2024 San Marcos residents voted to approve Measure Q, which will help make sure San Marcos can continue to maintain and improve its emergency response capabilities, take care of our roads and storm drains, and generally keep San Marcos the clean beautiful city we love.

Fiscal accountability and local control

Measure Q funds are carefully managed to ensure they are used as intended:

  • An independent citizens’ oversight committee and annual audits
  • Purchases such as groceries, prescription medicine, diapers and feminine hygiene products are exempt from sales tax
  • By law, all funds must stay local in San Marcos and no funds can be taken away by the state
