The City of San Marcos requires all businesses within city limits to have a valid business license. Doing business in the city, even temporarily, is defined as being located in or entering into the city to conduct business. This includes businesses based in other cities that enter San Marcos as part of their work, such as contractors and delivery companies.
The City’s License and Permit software is scheduled to be upgraded May 15-20, 2019. The Cashier will accept payments but will not be able to process the payment or issue any licenses during this time. However, new or renewal applications may still be submitted and will be processed in the order received beginning no later than May 21, 2019. The online renewals and searching for a license pages will also be down during this upgrade and are expected to be available no later than May 21, 2019. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. How do I...
