Assigned to the Public Works Department, the Park Operations Division plays an important role in all facets of public landscaping. Park Operations is involved in the design, construction, and maintenance of all areas of public landscaping within the City of San Marcos. The division also oversees landscape maintenance services for public parks, trails, and right-of-way landscaping.
In working with our internal partners in the Engineering and Planning Divisions, Park Operations plays an integral role in the design phase of landscape development projects. Park Operations also provides landscape inspection services for new public landscape construction projects.
Park Operations maintains 284 acres of community parks throughout the city, in addition to 104 maintained miles of public trails. Irrigation management, pest control operations, and urban forest management are other essential roles overseen by the Parks Division.
The goal of the Park Operations Division is to provide our community with a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment that promotes community engagement, public health, and encourages a green infrastructure.
