What programs can I use my scholarship funds towards?
Scholarship funds can only be applied towards recreation programs offered by San Marcos Parks & Recreation through the ActiveNet registration system. Scholarship awards are for use within the Activenet registration system only and all transactions must comply with all other San Marcos Parks & Recreation policies.
Programs available to use funds towards are:
- Swimming Lessons
- Junior Lifeguarding
- Aqua Aerobics
- Specialty Camps
- Enrichment Classes
- Raggedy Ann & Andy
- Senior Classes
- Adventure Day Camp
How old does someone need to be to apply?There is no age limit or requirement for this scholarship program. A parent may apply for themselves or their children however the name in the Applicant Name is the person that will be the recipient of the award and the only one able to use the funds.
What do I need to show I am eligible for the scholarship?Applicants must show proof of residency in the City of San Marcos through a copy of your driver's license, utility bill or apartment/house lease with current address and must show household income verification through a copy of last year's tax returns.
What is the process for getting a scholarship?A San Marcos resident must complete the entire Scholarship Application, show proof of residency and household income and turn it all into the Community Center front desk at 3 Civic Center Drive. The scholarship administrator will process your application within 3 business days and contact you via the email or phone number provided.
Who is eligible for this scholarship?
Eligibility is based on current HUD income guidelines for the City of San Marcos. To qualify for a scholarship, the total household income must be the same or less than the amount listed on the scale below. "Household" is defined by a group of related or non-related individuals living as one economic unit and sharing living expenses including rent, food, utilities, etc.
