With more than 63 miles of trail, San Marcos offers an extensive trail network that is ideal for hiking, biking, running, and equestrian use.

The Outdoor Adventures Division is committed to providing the community with opportunities to access the natural outdoor environment for the purpose of learning, teaching and recreation. It is our mission to inspire individuals to be advocates for sustainability, conservation and healthy lifestyles.


San Marcos features a proposed 72 miles multi-use trail system. 63 miles of existing trails are great for hiking, biking, running, equestrian use and more.

Jacks Pond Nature Center Web Icon

Jack's Pond Nature Center provides information about local habitats, plants, animals, geology, and cultural history in educational and enjoyable ways. San Marcos residents of all ages are welcome to encounter the many wonders of this natural, rustic learning and hiking habitat. 


Park Rangers

Acting as a source of public information about the more than 30 city parks and trail network, park rangers interpret and enforce park rules and regulations for visitors, assist with various events and programs and ensure safety for park patrons.

Scouts and Volunteers

 Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Eagle Scouts and Volunteers that need community projects can partner with the Outdoor Adventures team to find one that can make an impact.
