Cable Franchise Agreements
The city's communications office manages the cable franchise agreements held with the three service providers in San Marcos: Cox Communications, Time Warner Cable and AT&T U-verse. Depending on where in the city they live, residents have the ability to choose from one of these three cable television providers. Residents may also opt to use a satellite provider.
This amount of competition and choice are rare in the California – typically a city has one or two providers. To find out whether a company offers service to your home, the city recommends contacting the providers below:
Time Warner Cable
Assembly Bill 2987, the Digital Infrastructure and Video Competition Act of 2006, has removed franchising authority from cities and empowered the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to franchise television providers. The communication's office still monitors cable television franchise agreements and handles all citizen concerns.
