The City of San Marcos has officially launched its new Volunteer Trails Program, an initiative designed to strengthen community involvement and support environmental stewardship across the city’s trail network.

The first cleanup event took place on October 25 at Discovery Lake, where 25 volunteers, including members of Cub Scout Pack 662, helped remove litter and supported light trail maintenance. Their efforts contributed to cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable trails for all users.

Developed through a partnership between the Parks & Recreation, Economic Development, and Public Works departments, this quarterly program directly supports the City Council’s goal of expanding community-based volunteer programs that enhance public spaces and outdoor recreation areas.
