San Marcos Youth Commission
What We Do
At the average Youth Commission meeting, the "Teen issues/projects" are discussed first, then the commission addresses the other items and concerns on the agenda. Lastly, oral and written communications follow, where people may discuss items not on the agenda.




When/Where we Meet
The San Marcos Youth Commission meets on the first Monday of every month in the San Marcos City Chambers at 4:00 pm.

How to Become a Commissioner Anyone who wishes to become a commissioner must first meet qualifications then contact the City Clerk's office and request an application. The office number is 760.744.1050 x 3105. Qualifications: Members of the Youth Commission must have completed the sixth grade, and be no older than twenty-one (21) years old at the time of their appointment. Members must reside within the City limits of San Marcos, or the boundaries of the San Marcos Unified School District. He or she may not reside within the City limits of another City. Next Opening: There will be at least two regular commissioner positions and one alternate position every year in May. |
Youth Commission Goals
Goal 1
Obtain greater visibility of the Youth Commission within the community, especially with youth and adult organizations, and to use this visibility in a positive and effective way.
Goal 2
Ascertain the needs of youth in San Marcos and promote and /or implement events, activities, and fundraiser's to provide for these needs.
Goal 3
Associate with other youth organizations to exchange ideas/information and cosponsor events.
Goal 4
Provide volunteer time and help for the City of San Marcos events and projects.
