Supply KitTo be properly prepared for a disaster, an emergency supply kit is necessary. The following is a list of suggested items for an emergency supply kit:

Basic Items

  • Water, three-day supply of at least one gallon
    per person per day
  • Food, at least three-day supply
  • Can opener
  • Radio, battery powered or hand-crank
  • Flashlight and extra batteries
  • First-Aid kit
  • Whistle
  • Leather gloves and goggles
  • Sanitation: trash bags, hand sanitizer, toilet paper
  • Wrench to turn off utilities
  • Air filtration: dust mask or cotton cloth (from T-shirt)
  • Waterproof matches
  • Knife, rope, tarp
  • Duct tape and plastic sheeting
  • Pet food and water

Additional Items

  • Blankets
  • Change of clothes
  • Spare eyeglasses
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Prescription medications
  • Infant formula/diapers
  • Cash/travelers’ checks
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Paper and pencil
