San Marcos Fire Department responds to 1-acre brush fire

At 5:42 pm on Sunday, July 9, a 1-acre brush fire broke out on a vacant lot north of 400 Craven Road. With 10 units responding and early support from CAL FIRE Helicopter 12, crews contained the blaze and halted forward progress by approximately 6:08 pm. No injuries have been reported.

Resources responded from the San Marcos and Vista fire departments along with CAL FIRE and the San Diego Sheriff’s Department. 

No evacuations were issued and there were no threats to structures.

After a thorough investigation by the San Marcos Fire Department, the fire's cause is considered undetermined.

This fire serves as a critical reminder of the importance of wildfire preparedness. All homeowners must maintain 150 feet of defensible space and residents should have an emergency plans in place.
