Purpose
The Student and Neighborhood Relations Commission fosters positive communication and partnership between students, residents and businesses within the communities of City of San Marcos, California State University San Marcos and Palomar College. The Commission engages in discussions, solicits community input and recommends actions to promote collaboration, tolerance and mutual respect in the City’s neighborhood communities.
To fulfill its charge, the Commission:

promotes positive aspects of campus and community interaction;

recommends improvements of neighborhood relations and positive community images;

encourage increased participation, collaboration and involvement in activities on campus and in the community;

serves as a forum to explore and propose strategies and solutions to address community issues; and

solicits feedback from students and the community to identify and propose outlets for social activities and interaction.

Three members appointed by the City Council (CSUSM & Palomar College have direct appointments) |
Meeting Time/Location: | Second Monday in the month of February, April, September and November, 6:30 pm / City Hall – Council Chamber |
Term: | Four years |
Responsible Department: | City Manager’s Department/Administration |
Qualifications/Conditions: | Applicant must reside within the city limits and must be qualified elector of the City |
Compensation: | None |
Financial Disclosure: | Must submit Conflict of Interest statements (FPPC Form 700) |
Training: | City staff provides an initial orientation and ethics training in accordance with state law |
